Christian Aid

Christian Aid is an important part of the Church’s mission in Kings Langley and is actively supported by Christ Church Baptist as well as All Saints Parish Church and the Methodist Church. Christian Aid works to fight poverty and injustice, inspired by the gospel message of hope and God’s concern for all people in every situation in their lives. They believe that we have a prophetic role-speaking to the structures that keep people poor as well as fund raising to alleviate emergencies and to help people become self sufficient.

The local Christian Aid group here in Kings Langley is very active! We write letters to MPs, campaign on issues such as “Climate Change” and fund raise. Our local committee organises activities such as a “Simple Meal” and co-ordinates the popular door to door collections and other activities around Christian Aid week in May.

A key emphasis for Christian Aid is working with partners on the ground- they have no staff working overseas, funds raised is channelled through local people and organisations that are best able to know how to react to crisis and give people long term assistance.

Christian Aid was founded by the churches of Britain and Ireland. They work in around 50 countries, for example Afghanistan, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Colombia, Nigeria, Kenya and Brazil.
